TripAdvisor: “Interest in Türkiye increased considerably in the first week of May”
On May 15th, One Istanbul Series hosted TripAdvisor’s DMO Sales Manager Chad Shiver. Shiver shared TripAdvisor statistics on travel and COVID-19 which focused both on Türkiye and the global travel industry. According to the statistics, starting from mid-April, domestic traffic across the globe continued to improve even though increases were minimal (< 5%).
The number of travelers researching Türkiye started in the last week of April and increased considerably in the first week of May. Turkish users researching travel within their own country increased 36% and the international research increase was 16%. Shiver mentioned that, as confidence continues to grow, people will feel more comfortable traveling again domestically and in the final stage of recovery, people will once again feel comfortable travelling abroad.
